PhD Student position
in neural stem cell biology and neuronal ageing
Our research group studies the cellular and molecular mechanisms controlling the generation of neurons from stem cells in the adult mammalian brain using state of the art methods in molecular biology, biochemistry and mouse genetics.
The doctoral project builds on our recently published work (Beckervordersandforth et al., Neuron, 2017 and Schäffner et al., Neuron, 2018) and focuses on the role of autophagy and lysosome function in ageing associated stem cell und neuronal dysfunction.
We are looking for a highly motivated student with a Diploma/Master degree in Molecular Medicine, Biology or related fields. Candidates should have a strong background in Neurobiology, Cell Biology or Molecular Biology.
The doctoral researcher will have the opportunity to enroll in the local graduate school Life@fau and to be associated with the DFG-Research Training Group 2162 “Neurodevelopment and CNS Vulnerability”, which provide a wide range of scientific and soft-skill training.
